Mónica Arenas received her Ph.D. degree in Materials Science, from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), in 2017, where she worked as a postdoctoral researcher on the development of sensors for the lifetime prediction of oil pipelines.
In 2020, she joined the Interdisciplinary Research Group in Sociotechnical Cybersecurity, IRiSC, headed by Prof. Gabriele Lenzini as Research Associate.
She had the opportunity to move between materials and computer science fields, which allows her to approach projects with a distinct perspective in multidisciplinary areas.

Research Interests

Currently, her main research interests are in designing and implementing cryptographic protocols for materials that have fingerprint features, as well as in biometric systems, data analytics, and data privacy.
